<>“The Diplomat. “Cunk on Earth.”
“The Diplomat” (Netflix) Season 2, political drama. Centers on the new U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, as she defuses international crises, forge strategic alliances in London and adjust to her new place in the spotlight while also trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat.
I watch a lot of political TV series that it'd seem I've seen enough. Yet I never lose interest. "The Diplomat" is a bit on the "Madame Secretary" line that it wouldn't be hard to sense predictability. Yes, it is. But somehow we are watching the same drill again albeit a different drillmaster or drillmistress, if you may.
This time, Keri Russell--wearing the nervy spunk and stubborn vulnerability of "The Americans'" Elizabeth Jennings--carries "The Diplomat" like it's an entirely new political thriller ride again. As Kate Wyler, Ms Russell melds pretty well with co-star Rufus Sewell, as her hubby. She brings out stressed-out eroticism onscreen, it feels like the couch is burning. 🎥📺📹
“Cunk on Earth” (Netflix) British mockumentary. Diane Morgan as Philomena Cunk, an ill-informed investigative reporter, a character who previously starred on Charlie Brooker's “Weekly Wipe” and “Cunk on Britain.” Ms Morgan played Kath in the Netflix dark comedy series “After Life,” but I didn’t really notice her there. Until “Cunk…” Her deadpan delivery, which earned her a British Academy Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance, delivers the easy laughs, that is, if you’d loosen up a bit and let old-school silliness overcome you a bit. You need it, we need it.
Well, I needed it. And I ate Cunk in two sittings! So if you simply watch the series, with Krispy Kremes and Fanta, you’d realize that hey you haven’t forgotten laughter, after all! 🎥📺📹
