“The Long Riders" (1980).
“The Long Riders” (1980, Tubi) biographical Western directed by Walter Hill with original soundtrack by Ry Cooder. The film is notable for having cast four sets of actual brothers to play the four sets of brothers in the James–Younger Gang.
The brothers Keach, James Keach as Jesse James and Stacy Keach as Frank James. The Carradines: David as Cole Younger, Keith as Jim Younger, and Robert Carradine as Bob Younger. The Quaids, Dennis Quaid as Ed Miller and Randy Quaid as Clell Miller. And the Guest siblings: Christopher Guest as Charley Ford and Nicholas Guest as Robert Ford.
I am sure if you are as old as I am, you have already seen dozens of movies about the James–Younger Gang. The 19th-century gang of American outlaws that revolved around Jesse James and his brother Frank James. The gang was based in the state of Missouri, the home of most of the members.
Membership fluctuated from robbery to robbery, as the outlaws' raids were usually separated by many months. As well as the notorious James brothers, at various times it included the Younger brothers (Cole, Jim, John, and Bob), John Jarrett (married to the Youngers' sister Josie), Arthur McCoy, George Shepherd, Oliver Shepherd, William McDaniel, Tom McDaniel, Clell Miller, Charlie Pitts, William Chadwell (alias Bill Stiles), and Matthew "Ace" Nelson. And so on and so forth.
Still entertaining though. Walter Hill's forte. Although I already saw this many years ago, it is still a fine distraction while I do other things, writing or house chores, in the house. 🎥💻📽
GAVE UP, after about 20 minutes: “The Bricklayer” (2023, Netflix) action thriller directed by Renny Harlin. Steve Vail, a jaded CIA field agent, has become a bricklayer. When three international journalists have been murdered within a month, the CIA needs him again. Okay. Aaron Eckhart is Mr Vail. After a fight scene in a club, bodies flying and tables broken and all, yet partygoers stayed dancing, I knew I needed to stop this silliness. The prior macho duel atop a building was cool though. Next!
