“The Devil All the Time."

“The Devil All the Time” (2020, Netflix) psychological crime thriller, follows several characters whose stories weave together in two small towns, one in Southern Ohio and the other in West Virginia, during the period from the end of World War II to the 1960s.

Based on Donald Ray Pollock's popular 2011 novel of the same title, this moderately satisfying film version boasts of a kickass cast: Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, Haley Bennett, Robert Pattinson and Bill Skarsgård. Jake Gyllenhaal is a co-producer.

All of the ride's 138 minutes is mostly weirdness but not the visually graphic kind, thankfully. Didn't have to. The actors delivered the disturbance, shudder, and gloom just the same. A disturbed war veteran, husband and wife serial killer, an abusive preacher. 🎥💻📽

GAVE UP. “X” (2022, Max) slasher horror, follows a cast and crew who gather to make a pornographic film on an elderly couple's rural Texas property, but find themselves threatened by the homicidal couple. Seems intriguing. Yet when the gore starts to slash around (sic), that’s it for me.
