“John Wick: Chapter 4” (2023, Roku) action thriller film. John Wick sets out for revenge on the High Table and those who left him for dead. Keanu Reeves’ cadaverous, lifeless acting fits the mumbling Mr Wick. And yes there will be Part 5.



       And as we Wick fans are aware of, John is a professional hitman and assassin who has gained a legendary reputation for his set of skills. He is the combination of John McClane, Robert McCall, Jack Bauer, and John Rambo etcetera. Sure, he wears this sorta bulletproof vest (whoa! really?!?) but he also got hit by a speeding car several times, fell off 36 flights of stairs, and jumped off the 4th floor of a building and crashed into a vehicle. And lives to keep on fighting!

       There's also a blind assassin and an overweight dude who could fight in between 2-second inhaler breaks. Scary Russians and Katana-wielding ninjas. And a villain with a weird French accent because he's supposed to be French named Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont. Kickass! 

       This movie supposedly follows an intriguing High Table plotline but none of that. This is all about balletic mayhem, insane stunts, and up-close gunplay. Good, there's a dog and he didn't die.

       The primary fight choreographer is Chad Stahelski, who is also the director of the entire franchise. Mr Stahelski, along with stunt coordinators Stephen Dunlevy, Scott Rogers and Jeremy Marinas, are responsible for designing and executing the action sequences, including the intricate blend of hand-to-hand combat and gun-fu. Yes, gun-fu. You dig? 🎥💻📽

MOVIES That I Just Saw: “Dream Scenario.” / “Arizona.”

“Dream Scenario” (2023, Amazon Prime) dark comedy fantasy film written and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli , and starring Nicolas Cage. I didn't know who Mr Borgli was until this fine movie reminded me of Mr Cage in 2002's “Adaptation.”        This movie received positive reviews and was nominated for awards including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Nicolas Cage .        Plot take off: Sophie, a teenage girl, has a dream in which a man is raking leaves by a swimming pool. As Sophie starts floating up to the sky, she cries for help from this man whom she calls Dad. Her father, Paul Matthews (Nic) is a professor of evolutionary biology at a local university. “Toxic Town” (Netflix) British drama miniseries , follows the story of three mothers involved in the Corby toxic waste case , which was a London court case that was decided in 2009.
