“Your Friends and Neighbors."
“Your Friends and Neighbors” (Apple TV) drama series. Jon Hamm stars as a New York hedge fund manager who is recently divorced and becomes unemployed. He uses criminal methods to maintain his lifestyle and keep his family living to the standard to which they've become accustomed.
I was anticipating drug cartel stuff similar to “Ozark.” I wouldn't mind the same plotline, honestly. The genre is always thrilling. But this series, ain't it. And Mr Hamm's Coop here isn't what I mostly enjoyed of him (think bad, bad Roy Tillman in “Fargo 5”). Given that Coop is a different character, okay. But this dude is inconsistently flawed (sic) and mawkishly boring.
I was also hoping that the Coop and Elena (kickass Aimee Carrero) thievery tandem would be the center excitement grade but nope. I can't even tell where the story was heading, then there's a murder! Meanwhile, Coop's sis Ali keeps on annoying me with her dry mawkishness; played by Lena Hall, still irritatingly sentimental.
“Your Friends…” is one of those “crowded” shows where you feel the urge to fast forward or just quit. Somehow, I saw the end of it. Although the denouement was supposedly a story twist, to me, it was good riddance. Next! 🎥💻📽
