“Search Party” (Netflix) Season 1 to Season 3. Dark comedy. A group of friends who become involved in the search for a missing young woman and the events that result from their involvement.


       I really enjoyed Season 1 of this series. The script was tight and full of intrigue and mystery, plus very funny. Alia Shawkat possesses the charm and allure that drove the interest high. Her Dory is an unending creativity. Plus, John Early's Elliott was simply hilarious. Elliott is gay but John's gay, despite the cliche mannerisms, is still original.

       However, in Season 2, following the “solution” of Season 1's search for Chantal, things started to crumble. The fun waned into contrived seriousness. Worse, in Season 3, the premise sunk into dark confines that aren't even “dark comedy” So by episode 3 or 4 of S3, I gave up. I can't imagine, this series went all the way to Season 5. I don’t want to know why and how. 🎥💻📽


“Can You Keep a Secret?” (Paramount+) British sitcom. A retired couple, Debbie and William Fendon, living in the West Country of England are presented with a unique criminal opportunity to claim life insurance when William is mistakenly declared to have died.



       This little series with a daytime sitcom plot has easy charm, deadpan wit and light-hearted allure that keep you glued with a smile. Dawn French as Debbie is so easy to like. 🎥💻📽


“Such Brave Girls” (Hulu) 2 Seasons. British sitcom about a dysfunctional single-parent family. This series won a few BAFTA awards. Created and written by Kat Sadler, she stars as single mom Josie Johnson. Louise Brealey and Lizzie Davidson are her daughters Deb and Billie.



        The chemistry of the three was effectively entertaining, wildly hilarious, and smartly irreverent. Season 1 was a riot. But all the sitcom's magic got lost, fell into bland redundancy or simply wasn't there anymore. So I gave up after Episode 1 of Season 2. 🎥💻📽

“Happy Valley” (Britbox) British crime drama , focusing on Catherine Cawood, a dedicated police sergeant in West Yorkshire dealing with personal trauma while fighting local crime.        This series won the 2015 BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series , and won another BAFTA for Best Drama for the second series.        Drawn from the astonishing script by Sally Wainwright and Sarah Lancashire's magnificent performance, this 3-season series could be in the Top 5 of my Best TV Series of all time. “Slow Horses” (AppleTV+) Season 5, British spy thriller , based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Herron . Slough House is an administrative purgatory for MI5 service rejects who have bungled their job but have not been sacked. Those consigned there are known as "slow horses," a pun on "Slough House.”        I don't mind if this very enjoyable series goes to Season 20. And I'd like the current cast, led by Gary Oldman, to stay. As Jackson Lamb, the boss of this whacked team of MI5 rejects, his charming obnoxiousness (!) is the life of the show. The misfits are brilliantly orchestrated and shrewdly distributed per need, drama, comedy, and thrill. My most favorites are Aimee-Ffion Edwards as the jumpy and constantly pissed Shirley Dander, and oh yeah, Christopher Chung as the arrogant tech weirdo Roddy Ho.
